ABOUT Aloo-jeera Curry RECIPE

Aloo-jeera Curry is also known as jeerige bendi in Dakshina Kannada district. It is good in taste with jeera flavour. It goes well with plain rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Potato big sized 1
  2. Jeera 1 tsp
  3. Coconut gratings 1 cup
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Water
  6. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  7. Tamarind syrup 1 tsp
  8. Green chilli 1
  9. Curry leaves few

Instructions

  1. WHASED, PEELED AND CHOPPED POTATO BIG SIZED 1,ADD SUFFICIENT WATER, SALT TO TASTE AND COOK SMOOTHLY
  2. COMBINE GRATED COCONUT 1 CUP, JEERA 1/2 TSP, TURMERIC POWDER 1/4 TSP
  3. ADD SOME WATER, GREEN CHILLI 1 AND GRIND SMOOTHLY
  4. ADD A TSP OF TAMARIND SYRUP, CONTINUE GRINDING
  5. ADD GROUND PASTE INTO COOKED POTATO
  6. MIX WELL AND BRING IT TO BOIL, IF NECESSARY ADD SOME WATER
  7. ALLOW IT TO BOIL FINELY, IT BECOMES LITTLE THICK
  8. IT IS THICKENING, ADD CURRY LEAVES, TAKE OFF THE FLAME AND SERVE WITH HOT RICE
