ABOUT HYDERABADI CHICKEN TAHIRI RECIPE

An easy one pot chicken & rice dish, that is simple yet flavourful.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 750 grams medium size chicken pieces, cleaned & wash
  2. 750 grams rice
  3. 1 medium onion sliced
  4. 3 large tomatoes chopped
  5. 2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  6. 4 green chilli slit
  7. 250 grams curd
  8. 2 tablespoon kashmiri red chilli powder
  9. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  10. 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  11. 1 tablespoon garam masala powder
  12. 1 teaspoon shazeera
  13. 1 star anise
  14. 4 tablespoons oil
  15. 2 & 1/2 tablespoon salt
  16. 1 small bunch of green coriander,. Washed & chop
  17. 1 small bunch of mint leaves, chopprd
  18. 1 & 1/2 litre of water

Instructions

  1. HEAT 4 TBSP OIL IN A DEGH/POT
  2. TO THIS ADD THE SLICED ONION. SAUTE UNTIL IT TURNS GOLDEN
  3. ONCE BROWN, ADD GINGER GARLIC PASTE. SAUTE FOR 30 SECONDS
  4. ADD THE TOMATOES
  5. RED CHILLI POWDER
  6. TURMERIC POWDER
  7. CORIANDER POWDER
  8. 1 TBSP SALT
  9. MIX WELL. SAUTE UNTIL THE MASALA SEPARATES FROM THE FAT
  10. OUR TOMATOES ARE NOW DONE
  11. ADD THE CHICKEN
  12. CURD
  13. HALF OF THE CORIANDER & FRESH MINT LEAVES
  14. GARAM MASALA POWDER
  15. GIVE IT A GOOD STIR
  16. SAUTE ON HIGH FLAME TILL THE CHICKEN PIECES CHANGE COLOUR
  17. LOWER THE FLAME. COVER THE PAN & COOK FOR 5 MINUTES
  18. NOW ADD WATER (SHOULD BE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT OF RICE)
  19. ADD 3-4 SLIT GREEN CHILLIES
  20. SHAHI JEERA & STAR ANISE
  21. THE REMAINING CORIANDER & MINT LEAVES. BRING THIS TO A BOIL
  22. WHEN IT STARTS TO BOIL, COVER THE PAN & LET IT COOK FOR 10 MINUTES
  23. OUR CHICKEN IS 6O℅ DONE
  24. ADD THE SOAKED BASMATI
  25. 1 MOE TBSP SALT OR ADJUST AS PER TASTE
  26. GENTLY STIR EVERYTHING & LET IT COME TO A BOIL
  27. COVER & COOK UNTIL RICE & CHICKEN IS DONE
  28. STIR ONCE OR TWICE IN BETWEEN
