ABOUT Fish curry in sarso gravy RECIPE

The fish which I used was locally known as bachwa machhli. It has got very less bones and therefore easy for eating. Fish curry goes well with rice and you can add few drops of lemon and dhaniya leaves in the gravy.

  1. Fish (bachwa) - 2 kg
  2. FOR MASALA
  3. Mustard seeds - 50 gms
  4. Garlic - 20 pieces
  5. Haldi - 2 tspn
  6. Chilli powder -2 1/2tspn
  7. Pepper powder - 1/4 tspn
  8. Dhaniya powder - 2 tspn
  9. Water - 4 tspn
  10. For Marination
  11. Haldi - 1 tspn
  12. Red chillies powder - 1 tspn
  13. Salt
  14. Pepper powder - 1/4 tspn
  15. Prepared grinded masala - 1 tspn
  16. For gravy
  17. Prepared masala
  18. Tomatoes -4
  19. Water
  20. Salt

Instructions

  1. GRIND MUSTARD SEEDS WITH LITTLE WATER IN A MIXER
  2. ADD GARLIC PIECES
  3. RED CHILLI POWDER
  4. HALDI POWDER
  5. LITTLE PEPPER POWDER
  6. DHANIYA POWDER
  7. LITTLE WATER AND MIX
  8. GRIND AGAIN TO FORM A THICK MASALA PASTE
  9. THE MASALA PASTE IS READY
  10. HEAT OIL, ADD RED CHILLIES, BAY LEAF,
  11. ADD MASALA PASTE TO IT
  12. SAUTE WELL
  13. KEEP ON STIRRING
  14. MASALA WILL START LEAVING OIL
  15. AND IT REDUCES TOO
  16. THE MASALA HAS CHANGED ITS COLOR
  17. COOK FOR ANOTHER 5 MIN
  18. TILL IT TURNS BROWN, SWITCH OFF THE FLAME
  19. TAKE THE FISH PIECES, MARINATE IT WITH HALDI, SALT, RED CHILLIES POWDER.
  20. NOW SHALLOW FRY THEM
  21. THIS IS HOW IT LOOKS AFTER COOKING
  22. AGAIN TAKE THE COOKED MASALA IN A KADHAI, ADD TOMATOES AND SAUTE WELL
  23. ADD SUFFICIENT WATER
  24. MIX WELL, ADD SALT, THE GRAVY SHOULD NOT BE THICK
  25. ADD MORE WATER. ADD FRIED FISH, ALLOW TO BOIL
