Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For Akki roti :
  2. Rice flour 1 cup say 200 ml
  3. Salt as required
  4. Carrot grated 1/2 cup
  5. Onion finely chopped 1/2 cup
  6. Spinach finely chopped 1 to 1.5 cup
  7. Cilantros finely chopped fistful
  8. Cumin seeds 3/4 teaspoon
  9. Water 1/4 cup or required to knead
  10. Ghee 3 tablespoons
  11. For Mysore Chutney :
  12. Sesame oil 1 teaspoon
  13. Channa dal 1 cup
  14. Dried red chillies 7
  15. Salt as required
  16. Garlic cloves 7
  17. Lime juice for garnishing ( optional )

Instructions

  1. Take 1 cup ( 200ml ) rice flour in a wide bowl.
  2. Add 1/2 cup grated carrot .
  3. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped onion .
  4. Add 2 long chillies finely chopped .
  5. Add 1 cup finely chopped spinach + fistful chopped cilantros .
  6. Add salt as required .
  7. Add 3/4 teaspoon cumin seeds .
  8. Now knead all together by adding water gradually to form a smooth dough .
  9. The dough is ready .
  10. Now grease a butter sheet / ziplock cover with ghee .
  11. Grease fingers , Palm with ghee . Take a small portion of the dough to a medium sized ball .
  12. Now pat the ball to a thin roti like we do for poli/ obbatlu.
  13. Heat a iron tawa . Gently release the roti from the sheet and place the roti on the hot tawa.
  14. Drizzle a teaspoon ghee . Flip side when the lower side turns crispy . Cooked roti looks beautiful.
  15. Akki roti ready . Let’s prepare Mysore chutney . Heat 1 teaspoon sesame oil in a pan . Roast 1 cup
  16. Channa dal , 7 dried red chillies . Roast dal till aroma releases .
  17. Add 7 garlic cloves and fry .
  18. Fry all till there is some light discolouration .
  19. Cool the dal mixture completely and transfer them to a mixer . Add salt .
  20. Grind it to a slightly coarse chutney by adding required water .
  21. Mysore chutney is ready . The chutney should be tight . Add a teaspoon lime juice before serving.
  22. Traditional Karnataka Breakfast : Akki roti and Mysore chutney ready .
