Langos is Hungarian fried bread .It is also called as Hungarian Street food pizza. It is a favorite street and fair food that has a yeast dough made with mashed potatoes and All purpose flour.Must try recipe.

  1. For Langos
  2. All purpose flour 1 3/4 cups
  3. Potatoes 2 ( boiled and mashed)
  4. Instant yeast 2 1/2 teaspoon
  5. Sugar 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt 3/4 teaspoon
  7. Milk 1/2 cup
  8. For Toppings ( Savory version)
  9. Garlic cloves 2 cut into half
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Sour cream 1 cup
  12. Pepper powder to taste
  13. Grated cheese cubes 1/2 cup
  14. Coriander leaves chopped 1 fistful
  15. For Sweet version
  16. Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon
  17. Sugar or confectioner sugar 1/4 cup
  18. Maple syrup 1/2 cup
  19. Walnut 6
  20. Sultanas 10

Instructions

  1. INGREDIENTS FOR HUNGARIAN LANGOS RECIPE.
  2. IN A CLEAN WIDE VESSEL ADD ALL PURPOSE FLOUR AND INSTANT YEAST.
  3. MIX WELL TILL IT IS WELL COMBINED. ADD SUGAR TO IT.
  4. ADD MILK ,SALT
  5. AND BOILED MASHED POTATOES AND MIX WELL .
  6. MOISTENED BOILED POTATOES ARE COMBINED WELL WITH THE FLOUR MIXTURE.
  7. DUST THE KITCHEN COUNTER WITH FLOUR AND TRANSFER THE FLOUR MIXTURE.
  8. KNEAD WELL FOR 5 TO 7 MINUTES OR UNTIL SMOOTH AND ELASTIC.
  9. TRANSFER TO A GREASED BOWL, COVER WITH A CLING FILM .
  10. LET IT REST UNTIL IT RISE DOUBLED.
  11. TRANSFER THE RISEN DOUGH TO THE FLOUR DUSTED KITCHEN COUNTER.
  12. FLATTEN THE DOUGH.
  13. DIVIDE DOUGH INTO 4 EQUAL PORTIONS.
  14. SHAPE EACH PIECE INTO A SMOOTH BALL.
  15. PLACE THE SMOOTH BALL ON TO A FLOUR DUSTED PLATE.
  16. COVER AND LET REST 20 MINUTES.
  17. IT HAS RISEN WELL
  18. FLATTEN AND STRETCH EACH DOUGH BALL.
  19. MAKE 1 OR MORE SLITS IN THE CENTER OF THE STRETCHED DOUGH.THIS HELPS TO KEEP THE DOUGH FROM PUFFING.
  20. HEAT OIL IN A KADAI ON MEDIUM HEAT.FRY ONE LANGOS AT A TIME .
  21. FRY 2 MINUTES PER SIDE.
  22. TURN ON TO THE OTHER SIDE OR UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN.
  23. DRAIN OIL ON KITCHEN TISSUES.
  24. FRY ONE BY ONE.
  25. ALL READY FOR TOPPINGS.
  26. LANGOS CAN BE SERVED WITH TWO VERSION,SAVORY AND SWEET.
  27. SAVORY VERSION...RUB CUT GARLIC CLOVES ON TO LANGOS.
  28. SPRINKLE SALT AND SPOON IN SOUR CREAM.
  29. SPRINKLE GRATED CHEESE ON TOP OF SOUR CREAM.
  30. SPRINKLE PEPPER POWDER.
  31. ADD CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES FOR FINAL GARNISH.
  32. FOR SWEET VERSION.. ELIMINATE THE GARLIC AND SALT AND SPRINKLE WITH CINNAMON SUGAR.
  33. FOR ADDED EXTRA TASTE,SPOON IN MAPLE SYRUP.
  34. GARNISH IT WITH WALNUT AND SULTANAS.
  35. YUMMY HUNGARIAN STREET FOOD LANGOS ARE READY.
  36. HUNGARIAN LANGOS OF BOTH SWEET AND SAVORY VERSION'S ARE READY TO CONSUME.
