Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Urad dal 1 cup
  2. Rice 1 cup
  3. Chana dal 1 cup
  4. Green chillies 5
  5. Salt
  6. Oil
  7. Curry leaves chopped a handfull
  8. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  9. Seasame seeds 1 tbsp
  10. Ginger 1 inch
  11. Asfotedia/ hing 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. SOAK 1 CUP EACH OF RICE, CHANA DAL & URAD DAL IN SUFFICIENT WATER FOR 3-4 HOURS
  2. WASH, DRAIN & ADD TO A GRINDER, ADD A LITTLE WATER & BLEND TILL SMOOTH
  3. GRIND 5 GREEN CHILLIES, 1 INCH GINGER PIECE TO A MIXER JAR, BLEND
  4. ADD THIS TO THE RICE-DAL BATTER, BLEND TOGETHER
  5. ADD SALT, COVER & SET ASIDE TO FERMENT FOR 8-10 HOURS
  6. ADD 2 TSP OIL ON A NON-STICK PAN, ADD 1 TBSP SEASAME SEEDS
  7. ADD 1/4 TSP ASAFOETIDA, ADD 15-20 CHOPPED CURRY LEAVES
  8. SPRINKLE 1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER
  9. ADD THE FERMENTED BATTER ON TOP, SPREAD EVENLY
  10. COVER & COOK ON LOW HEAT FOR 5 MINS
  11. FLIP, COVER & COOK FROM THE OTHER SIDE
  12. ADD 1 TSP OIL ON THE SIDES, COVER & COOK FOR 2 MINS
  13. FLIP AGAIN, PRESS DOWN LIGHTLY
  14. AND IT'S DONE, SERVE HOT
