Kerala style fish fry marinated with indian spices and wrapped inside banana leaf, which gives nice aroma when cooked.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1kg pomfret, cleaned
  2. A teaspoon of turmeric, red chilly, lemon juice for marination
  3. 1 teaspoon cumin coriander powder
  4. 1 teaspoon red chilly powder
  5. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  6. 1 teaspoon garam masala
  7. 1 sprig curry leaves
  8. salt to taste
  9. 1/2 cup coconut milk
  10. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  11. 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  12. 2 green chillies, slit
  13. 3 chopped tomato
  14. 4 chopped onion
  15. 5 banana leaves.

Instructions

  1. HEAT A PAN AND ADD A TABLESPOONS OF COCONUT OIL. WHEN HEATED ENOUGH, ADD A TEASPOON OF MUSTARD SEEDS AND CUMIN SEEDS
  2. ADD 3 CHOPPED ONIONS AND SAUTE TILL IT TURNS TRANSLUCENT
  3. ADD A TABLESPOON OF GINGER GARLIC PASTE, A SPRIG CURRY LEAVES, 3 SLIT GREEN CHILLIES. SAUTE WELL
  4. IN MEANTIME, ADD A TEASPOON OF TURMERIC POWDER, RED CHILLY POWDER AND FEW DROPS OF LEMON JUICE TO CLEANED FISH AND MARINATE FOR HALF AN HOUR
  5. ADD 3 CHOPPED TOMATOES. SAUTE TILL IT TURNS MUSHY.
  6. ADD A TEASPOON OF GARAM MASALA, TURMERIC POWDER, RED CHILLY POWDER, CUMIN CORIANDER POWDER EACH
  7. MASH WELL TILL RAW SMELL GOES OFF. ADD 1/2 CUP OF THICK COCONUT MILK. COOK FOR FEW MINUTES
  8. HEAT A FRESH BANANA LEAF ON HOT TAWA UNTIL IT TURNS TENDER. IT MAKES THE LEAF EASY TO FOLD.
  9. PLACE A TABLESPOON OF PREPARED CURRY ON THE LEAF AND SPREAD A LITTLE. PLACE A FRIED FISH ON THAT. AGAIN TOP IT WITH MASALA.
  10. FOLD THE LEAF AS SHOWN IN THE VIDEO.
  11. PLACE THE FOLDED FISH PACKETS ON THE TAWA AND HEAT IN LOW FLAME FOR 10 MINUTES ON BOTH SIDES . SERVE HOT WITH GHEE RICE OR COCONUT RICE.
