These are traditional recipes originated in Wales.this is also called bakestones which is cast iron griddle in which they are actually cooked. It can also be described as griddle scones. This is a delicious tea time treat with soothing light buttery crumb and soft texture melts in your mouth :)

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Flour 1 3/4cup
  2. Salt 1/2tsp
  3. Baking powder 2 tsp
  4. Sultanas or black raisins 3/4cup
  5. Vanilla essence 1/4tsp
  6. Egg 1 + (1tsp milk if mixture is dry)
  7. Sugar 3/4cup
  8. Butter 100gms
  9. Honey and powdered sugar for serving

Instructions

  1. DO THE MISA. THE BUTTER SHOULD BE COLD ENOUGH. PREPARE DRY AND WET INGREDIENTS
  2. SIEVE THE DRY MIXTURE IN A BOWL. WHICH ARE FLOUR BAKING POWDER AND SALT
  3. NOW ADD THE COLD BUTTER AND CRUMB IT WITH FINGER TIP WITHOUT MELTING IT WITH FLOUR
  4. THE TEXTURE SHOULD BE LIKE THIS. LIKE A BREADCRUMB
  5. NOW ADD THE SUGAR AND SULTANAS OR BLACK RAISINS
  6. ADD THE VANILLA ESSENCE AND MIX ALL
  7. BREAK IN A EGG AND FORM A DOUGH
  8. THE DOUGH SHOULD NOT BE TOO HARD OR TOO SOFT.. IT SHOULD BE LIKE CHILLED COOKIE DOUGH. SEMI STIFF
  9. FLATTEN THE DOUGH WITH ROLLING PIN TO 1/4 INCH THICKNESS . DUST THE BASE WITH FLOUR TO AVOID STICKING
  10. NOW CUT IT WITH A CUTTER OR BOWL TO 3INCH DIAMETER
  11. HEAT A GRIDDLE OR TAWA PAN . LIGHTLY BUTTER THE SURFACE AND KEEP THE DOUGH ON IT IN MEDIUM FLAME
  12. LET IT COOK FOR 3 TO 4MINS ON EACH SIDE WITH LIGHT BRUSHING WITH BUTTER
  13. TAKE OUT FROM THE GRIDDLE ONCE GOLDEN AND DONE ON BOTH SIDES
