Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup kadala parupu ( channa dal )
  2. salt to taste
  3. A pinch hing
  4. Handful chopped onions, curry leaves and green chilli
  5. oil to fry

Instructions

  1. SOAK 1 CUP CHANA DAL FOR 1 HOUR, DRAIN, PUT IN BLENDER, ADD SALT, 1 TSP EACH OF CUMIN & FENNEL SEEDS
  2. ADD 1/4 TSP ASAFOETIDA, GRIND FOR 1 MINUTE WITHOUT ADDING ANY WATER
  3. MAKE A COARSE POST LIKE THIS
  4. ADD 1 CHOPPED CHOPPED ONION, FEW CURRY LEAVES, 1 GREEN CHILLI
  5. MIX & SHAPE INTO SMALL BALLS
  6. GET ALL THE BALLS READY
  7. FLATTEN THE BALLS LIKE THIS, DEEP FRY IN HOT OIL
  8. FLIP & FRY FROM BOTH SIDES UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN & CRISP
  9. THE VADAS ARE READY, TAKE OFF HEAT
  10. SEE HOW CRISP & TEMPTING THEY LOOK
  11. SERVE HOT AT TEA-TIME
