It is a fabulous cake . tribal people specially asam,mijoram,monipuri hill track areas people made it commonly.it is a very popular sweet dish among them.the flavour of this cake is trimandus!! Palm aroma mixed with straws smoky flavour made this cake really divine.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rice flour 1.5 cup
  2. Semolina 1/2 cup
  3. Palm Pulp 1 cup
  4. Sugar 1 cup
  5. Powder milk 1 cup
  6. Yeast 1/2 tsp
  7. Baking powder 1.5 tsp
  8. Shredded coconut 1 cup
  9. Diced coconut 1/2 cup
  10. Salt 1/2 tsp
  11. Egg 2
  12. Jackfruit leaves 25 pcs
  13. Straw/Dry paddy leaves
  14. Tooth pick 25pcs.

Instructions

  1. IN A BOWL TRANSFER 1.5 CUP RICE FLOUR,1/2 CUP SEMOLINA,1 CUP SUGAR.
  2. ADD 1 CUP POWDER MILK,2 EGGS.
  3. 1/2 TSP YEAST,1 CUP SHREDDED COCONUT,1 CUP PALM PULP.
  4. MIX WELL.
  5. BATTER CONSISTENCY SHOULD BE THICKEND,KEEP IT IN WARM PLACE FOR 6 HOURS FOR FERMENTATION
  6. TAKE JACKFRUIT LEAVES.WASH AND WIPE THOROUGHLY.
  7. BRUSH GHEE ON EACH LEAVES.
  8. FOLD JACKFRUIT LEAF LIKE THIS.SECURE WITH TOOTH PICK.
  9. FOLD ALL LEAVES AS SHOWN.
  10. THE BATTER HAS FERMENTED.
  11. ADD 1.5 TSP BAKING POWDER.1/2 TSP SALT.MIX WELL.
  12. FILLED LEAF PARCEL WITH PALM CAKE BATTER.
  13. IN A LARGE PAN ADD DRY STRAWS.
  14. POUR 2 CUP WATER ,BRING IT TO BOIL.SET BATTER FILLED LEAVES CAREFULLY.
  15. STEAM CAKES FOR 2 OR 3 MINUTES.
  16. SPRINKLE DICED COCONUT ON TOP.AND STEAM FOR 20 MINUTES.
  17. AFTER 20 MINUTES STEAMING TRIBAL PALM CAKES ARE READY.
  18. SERVE TRIBAL PALM CAKE AFTER COOLING DOWN.
