SANDHAGAI OR RICE VERMICELLI is a Classic idiappom ! Instant String Hopper with sweet coconut milk is very healthy and delicious !

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Idly rice 2 Cups
  2. Thick Coconut milk 2 Cups
  3. Jaggery -1/4 Cup
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Cardamom powder 2 tbsps
  6. Roasted Bengal gram dal powder -4 Tbsps

Instructions

  1. SANDHAGAI OR RICE VERMICELLI BY RAMANI THIAGARAJAN !
  2. Soak Idly rice 5 hours and grind it to a smooth batter !
  3. Add one tsp salt and keep over medium heat ! Stir constantly !
  4. Cook until it becomes thick batter !
  5. There should not be any lumps in the batter ! Make Dumplings and keep in the steamer !
  6. Steam for 20 minutes !
  7. It will become shiny !
  8. Take the steamed rice dumplings and keep in the traditional Sandakai nazi !
  9. Rotate the handle when it is hot !
  10. Sandhagai (rice vermicelli) is falling beautifully !
  11. You will get yummy rice vermicelli !
  12. Keep in a vessel and cover with a cloth !
  13. Take thick coconut milk in a saucepan ! Add Jaggery and mix well !
  14. When it is warm add cardamom Powder and mix !
  15. Make roasted Bengal gram dal powder !
  16. Arrange all !
  17. Classic idiyappm Sandhagai instant string hopper !

  19. Sandagai with sweet coconut milk and Bengal gram dal powder !
