ABOUT Apple Pie Doughnuts RECIPE

Every kid loves doughnuts and that's for sure.They just get much better when filled with spiced apples.Sounds intersting right ?Pie in form of doughnut, yes ! As apples are in season I chose them but you can always change the filling to chocolate,vanilla pastry cream,custard,caramel and sky is the limit for this.You can also bake them for a healthier version but deep fried tastes much yummier.Make and enjoy this winter.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 2.5 cups : All purpose flour
  2. 1/2 tsp : salt
  3. 2 tbsp : Dark brown sugar
  4. Zest of a lemon
  5. 1 tsp : Instant yeast
  6. 2 tbsp : oil
  7. 1 large : egg beaten
  8. 3/4 cup : Warm milk
  9. For apple filling :
  10. 800 gm : Peeled,cored,chopped apples
  11. 2 tbsp : Dark brown sugar
  12. Juice of half lemon
  13. 1/3 cup : water
  14. 1 tsp : All spice powder
  15. For Coating : 1 tsp : cinnamon powder
  16. 1/3 cup : Caster sugar

Instructions

  1. TAKE 2.5 CUPS FLOUR, 1/2 TSP SALT, 2 TBSP BROWN SUGAR, ZEST OF A LEMON, 1 TSP INSTANT YEAST
  2. MIX WELL
  3. ADD 2 TBSP OIL, 1 BEATEN EGG
  4. MIX GENTLY, ADD 3/4-1 CUP WARM MILK GRADUALLY, KNEAD INTO A SOFT, STICKY DOUGH
  5. SCOOP OUT THE DOUGH ON TO A FLAT SURFACE
  6. WITHOUT ADDING ADDITIONAL FLOUR, CONTINUE KNEADING UNTIL IT TURNS PLIABLE & NON STICKY
  7. THE DOUGH IS READY NOW
  8. GREASE A BOWL & THE READY DOUGH WITH OIL, PLACE THE DOUGH IN THE BOWL
  9. COVER & SET ASIDE IN A WARM PLACE UNTIL IT DOUBLES UP IN SIZE
  10. FOR THE FILLING : PLACE 800 GMS PEELED, CORED & FINELY CHOPPED APPLES IN A SAUCEPAN
  11. ADD THE JUICE OF 1/2 A LEMON, 2 TBSP DARK BROWN SUGAR, 1/3 CUP WATER
  12. ADD IN 1 TSP ALL SPICE POWDER, MIX
  13. COVER & COOK UNTIL SOFT, STIRRING IN BETWEEN, SET ASIDE
  14. PUNCH OUT THE AIR FROM THE RISEN DOUGH
  15. BRING THE EDGES TOGETHER, SHAPE INTO A BALL
  16. LIGHTLY DUST THE DOUGH WITH DRY FLOUR, PAT THE DOUGH INTO A DISC
  17. ROLL THE DOUGH UNTIL IT'S 1/2 INCH THICK
  18. USE A 3 INCH ROUND CUTTER, CUT OUT DOUGHNUTS
  19. PLACE THE DOUGHNUTS ON A LINED BAKING TRAY, ABOUT 2 INCHES APART, COVER & SET ASIDE FOR 30 MINS
  20. DEEP FRY IN HOT OIL IN BATCHES
  21. FLIP & FRY FROM BOTH SIDES UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN & CRISP
  22. WHILE STILL HOT, FUST EACH FRIED DOUGHNUT WITH SOME CINNAMON-SUGAR MIX
  23. TRANSFER THE READY APPLE FILLING INTO A PIPING BAG FITTED WITH A 9 MM TIP
  24. MAKE A HOLE ON THE SIDE OF EACH DOUGHNUT
  25. FILL EACH DOUGHNUT WITH THE APPLE FILLING
  26. COAT WITH CINNAMON-SUGAR MIX AGAIN, SERVE WARM
