Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For the Pie crust
  2. All purpose flour 200 grams
  3. Butter for rubbing into flour 50 grams
  4. Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  5. Salt 1/2 teaspoon.
  6. Ice cold water 1/2 cup or less
  7. Butter to spread on dough 100 grams.
  8. For strudel Filling
  9. Apple 1 thinly sliced
  10. Cinnamon powder 3/4 teaspoon
  11. Palm sugar 1/4 cup
  12. Cornflour 2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. TAKE 200 GMS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR, ADD 3/4 TSP BAKING POWDER, 1/2 TSP SALT
  2. SIFT WELL
  3. ADD 50 GMS CHILLED BUTTER, MIX WELL UNTIL CRUMBLY
  4. ADD SUFFICIENT ICE COLD WATER, KNEAD INTO A STIFF DOUGH
  5. CLING WRAP THE PASTRY DOUGH, REFRIGERATE FOR 10 MINS
  6. FLATTEN THE CHILLED DOUGH
  7. ROLL OUT INTO A RECTANGLE, PLACE A SLAB OF 100 GMS CHILLED BUTTER ON TOP
  8. FLATTEN OUT THE BUTTER LIKE THIS
  9. FOLD THE DOUGH OVER
  10. ROLL IT OUT CAREFULLY, REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS THRICE, CLING WRAP & REFRIGERATE FOR 1 HOUR
  11. FOR THE STRUDEL FILLING : TAKE 1 SLICED APPLE, ADD 3/4 TSP CINNAMON POWDER
  12. AND 1/2 CUP PALM SUGAR, MIX WELL
  13. THE FILLING IS READY
  14. UNWRAP THE REFRIGERATED PASTRY DOUGH ON A FLOUR-DUSTED FLAT SURFACE
  15. DIVIDE THE DOUGH INTO HALF
  16. ROLL IT INTO A BIG RECTANGLE, FOLD OVER ONCE
  17. DIVIDE INTO HALF AGAIN
  18. ADD 2 TSP CORNFLOUR TO THE READY APPLE STRUDEL FILLING, MIX
  19. ARRANGE THE APPLE FILLING ON TOP OF THE ROLLED OUT DOUGH
  20. APPLY WATER TO THE EDGES, COVER WITH THE OTHER ROLLED OUT SHEET OF DOUGH
  21. PLACE IT CAREFULLY ON A BAKING TRAY, PRESS DOWN THE EDGES TO MAKE A PATTERN
  22. MAKE THIN SLITS ON TOP LIKE THIS
  23. APPLY EGG WASH ON TOP
  24. BAKE IN A PREHEATED OVEN AT 180 DEGREES FOR 25 MINS
  25. ONCE DONE, ALLOW IT TO COOL
  26. SLICE & SERVE THE DELICIOUS APPLE STRUDEL, TRY IT, IT'S YUM
