Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Hilsa ring pieces 8 pieces
  2. Yellow mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  3. Black mustard seeds 2 tbsp
  4. Poppy seeds 1 tbsp
  5. Green chilis 8-10
  6. Hung curd/yogurt 2tbsp
  7. Mustard oil 4 tbsp
  8. Salt according to taste
  9. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. WASH, CLEAN & PAT DRY 500 GMS HILSA FILLETS
  2. SOAK 2 TBSP BLACK & 1 TBSP YELLOW MUSTARD SEEDS IN A BLENDER, CHANGE THE WATER EVERY 10 MINS
  3. ADD 1 TBSP POPPY SEEDS, 4 GREEN CHILIES, A PINCH OF SALT, LITTLE WATER, BLEND INTO A FINE PASTE
  4. ADD THE PASTE, 1/2 TSP TURMERIC POWDER, 2 TBSP CURD TO A STEEL TIFFIN BOX
  5. ADD 4 TBSP MUSTARD OIL, MIX WELL
  6. DIP THE FISH PIECES INTO THIS MIXTURE, COAT WELL
  7. ADD 4-5 SLIT GREEN CHILIES, SET ASIDE TO MARINATE FOR 15 MINS
  8. HEAT A HEAVY BOTTOMED PAN, PUT THE CLOSED TIFFIN BOX INSIDE, ADD SOME WATER
  9. COVER & COOK FOR 20 MINS ON LOW HEAT
  10. THE FISH IS DONE
  11. SERVE HOT WITH RICE
