Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. White rice 100 grams
  2. Green gram dal 100 grams
  3. jaggery 200 grams
  4. Grated coconut l cup
  5. Ghee 4 tea spoon
  6. cardamom powder 1 tea spoon
  7. Few cashew nuts​ and raisins
  8. water 1 ltr

Instructions

  1. TAKE GREEN GRAM DAL 100 GRAMS AND RICE 100 GRAMS. WASH BOTH CLEANLY AND ADD IN COOKER. NOW POUR 3/4 LTR WATER.
  2. NOW CLOSE THE LID AND COOK TILL SOFT IN PRESSURE COOKER FOR 4 WHISTLES.
  3. HEAT A PAN WITH 4 TEA SPOON OF GHEE, ADD CARDAMOM POWDER 1 TEA SPOON, CASHEW NUT AND RAISINS FEW. FRY THEM TILL THE CASHEW NUT TURN INTO GOLDEN BROWN.
  4. WHEN THEY TURN INTO GOLDEN BROWN MIX THEM WITH COOKED RICE DAL.
  5. POUR REMAINING 1/4 LTR OF WATER TO 200 GRAMS JAGGERY. ME USED ORGANIC JAGGERY. ON A LOW FLAME STIR AND MELT IT. NO NEED OF FILTER THIS ORGANIC JAGGERY SYRUP.
  6. NOW ADD GRATED COCONUT A CUP TO THIS SYRUP. THEN FRIED ITEMS MIXED THOROUGHLY SOFT COOKED WHITE RICE AND GREEN GRAM DAL.
  7. NOW MIX WELL AND COOK ON A MEDIUM FLAME TILL THE JAGGERY SYRUP BLENDS WELL WITH RICE. IT SHOULD BEGIN TO BUBBLE UP WELL. OFF THE STOVE. STIR TILL 3 SECONDS. NOW IT IS READY TO SERVE.
  8. SWEET PONGAL IS READY TO SERVE.
