This is Lucknow special sweet dish which is almost 200 years old recipe.I tried this sweet dish at home and it came so close to that. My family loved it. So why not you try this sweet dish this Diwali for your loved ones.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Full cream milk - 500 ml
  2. Sugar - 100 grams
  3. Almond - 7 to 8
  4. Pistachio - 8 to 9
  5. Kesar
  6. Rose water or kewra water


  1. Boil 500 ml milk on slow heat for an hour to get a fine layer of malai on top.
  2. Soak 7 to 8 almonds and few saffron strands in 1/4 cup of warm milk.
  3. Take off the heat when the milk gets reduced and keep it cool.
  4. Peel out the malai layer slowly from the edges of the pan
  5. Keep it aside
  6. Mix 100 grams sugar,the soaked almonds ,pistachios and the safforon milk
  7. Add few drops of rose water or kewra.
  8. Cut out a triangle out of the malai and place some dry fruits mix in the centre.
  9. Fold like a paan bida
  10. Cover with silver varq
  11. Serve chilled
