Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw rice 1 cup
  2. Moong dal handful
  3. Channa dal handful
  4. pepper 1 teaspoon
  5. jeera 1 teaspoon
  6. Grated coconut
  7. For seasoning coconut oil
  8. Mustard seeds
  9. Channa dal
  10. cashews
  11. hing
  12. curry leaves
  13. Red Chillies 2
  14. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse and soak raw rice, channa and moong dal for 1 hr
  2. Drain water completely
  3. Dry the mixture in a cloth
  4. Add pepper and jeera in a blender
  5. Add rice and dal
  6. Grind coarsely
  7. Add curry leaves
  8. Add water and salt
  9. When water starts boiling add rice dal mixture and mix well
  10. Cook on low flame for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally
  11. Add grated coconut
  12. Rice upma is ready to serve
