ABOUT Almond (Badam) Milk RECIPE

A traditional Karnataka sweet made during Deepavali (Diwali) festival. Grandmother recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Almonds 50 grams
  2. Granulated sugar 100-150gms
  3. Dry coconut/ kopra 3/4
  4. Cardamom 1
  5. Water as required


  1. In a vessel add enough water to blanch the almonds
  2. Once boiling, add almonds and turn off the gas.
  3. Drain the water
  4. Run cold water
  5. Deskin the almonds
  6. Scrape the skin of kopra (dry coconut).
  7. Roughly chop the kopra
  8. Add in almond and cardamom.
  9. Transfer it to a jar
  10. Grind it to a smooth paste.
  11. In a vessel add in the grinded paste.
  12. Add little water. Let it reach milk consistency.
  13. On high flame bring let it boil.
  14. Once it start to boil lower the flame. Add granulated sugar
  15. Let it boil on low flame.
  16. Sugar gets dissolved in milk.
  17. Once the sugar is melted completely bring it to boil on medium flame.
  18. Almond (Badam )milk is ready
