Kulkul is a goan recipe but I made it like NorthIndian Shakarpara style and without egg.It is very yummy crunchy in taste and it's curly shape fascinates kids very much . I made it with the help of fork .

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. All purpose flour 2 cups
  2. Sooji 2 table spoon
  3. Powdered sugar 1/4 cup
  4. Oil or ghee 1/2 cup
  5. Salt 1/8 teaspoon
  6. Milk 1/2cup
  7. For sugar syrup
  8. Sugar 1 cup
  9. Water 1/4 cup
  10. Cardamom powder 1 teaspoon


  1. Take all purpose flour
  2. Add sooji
  3. Add refined oil
  4. Add salt
  5. Add grounded sugar
  6. Add milk
  7. Mix well
  8. Knead well
  9. Cover it and keep for rest for 10 minutes
  10. For sugar syrup add sugar and water together
  11. Boil it
  12. One string sugar syrup
  13. Add lemon juice to avoid crystalisation
  14. Make small balls from the dough
  15. Kulkuls are ready to fry
  16. Take a small ball press it on the back side of the fork and roll it to get perfect kulkul shapes
  17. Fry kulkuls in hot oil on medium heat
  18. Fry till golden brown
  19. Add kulkuls in sugar syrup
  20. Take out kulkuls afetr five minutes
  21. Glazed kulkuls are ready
