“Belgian waffle” has been an integral part of American breakfast. Here’s a twist of the same with a desi masala tadka and a healthy version

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For Desi masala waffle:
  2. 100 gms semolina/rava
  3. 5 tbspn buttermilk
  4. 2 tbspn boiled and mashed sweet corn kernels
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 1 tspn cumin seeds/Jeera
  7. 5 tbspn chopped coriander leaves
  8. 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  9. a pinch of asafoetida/hing powder
  10. For healthy waffle:
  11. 100 gms quick cooking oats
  12. 50 gms cleaned baby spinach leaves
  13. 5 tbspn buttermilk
  14. Salt to taste


  1. Desi masala waffle:Mix 1 tspn cumin seeds,salt to taste,2 tbn gram flour,a pinch of asafoetida,1/2 tsp baking soda & 100 gm semolina
  2. Further add 2 tbs boiled and mashed sweet corn kernels,5 tbs coriander leaves & 2 green chillies chopped
  3. Finally add 5 tbspn buttermilk to mix into a thick liquidy batter
  4. Healthy waffle: Blend together 100 gms quick oats, salt to taste,50 gm baby spinach leaves & 5 tbn buttermilk to a thick batter
  5. Grease waffle maker with 1 tsp oil and pre heat
  6. Pour scoops of batters prepared into the waffle mound and let cook for 2-3 minutes or until done
  7. Garnish masala waffle with grated cheese while hot and top fruits over healthy version. Enjoy
