ABOUT Healthy and Sinful momos RECIPE

Hot momos served with a spicy sauce is simply irresistible. Here’s a twist to the traditional way of cooking them. A healthy version steamed with veggies and spinach dough and a sinful chocolaty Oreo version

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For Oreo momos:
  2. 100 gms all purpose flour
  3. 1 tspn salt
  4. 1 tbspn oil for kneading dough
  5. water as needed
  6. 50 gms Oreo biscuit shells powdered
  7. 1 tbspn melted chocolate
  8. oil for Deep frying
  9. For spinach veggie momos:
  10. 100 gms all purpose flour
  11. 20 gms baby spinach blanched and puréed
  12. 1 tbspn oil for kneading dough
  13. 1 tspn salt
  14. 50 gms finely chopped cabbage
  15. 50 gms grated carrot
  16. 1 tspn vinegar
  17. 1 tbspn soy sauce
  18. 1 tbspn unsalted butter
  19. 2 tspn black pepper crushed
  20. water as needed for steaming
  21. Hot momo chilly sauce

Instructions

  1. OREO MOMO: COMBINE 100 GMS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR, 1 TSP SALT AND 1 TBSP OIL. MIX WELL
  2. USING WATER, KNEAD A SOFT DOUGH.COVER DOUGH FOR 10 MINUTES.
  3. ROLL OUT THIN POORIS FROM PREPARED DOUGH.
  4. CRUSH 20 GMS OF OREOS. ADD A SPOONFUL OF POWDERED OREOS ON EACH POORI.
  5. FOLD THE EDGES OF THE POORIS TO CREATE MOMO SHAPE.
  6. SEAL JOINTS. TUCK WELL.
  7. DEEP-FRY PREPARED MOMOS TILL CRISP & SLIGHTLY BROWN.
  8. PLACE FRIED MOMOS ON A KITCHEN TISSUE TO STRAIN EXCESS OIL.
  9. VEGGIE MOMO: MELT 1 TBSP BUTTER. SAUTE 50 GMS CHOPPED CABBAGE & GRATED CARROTS. ADD SALT & 1 TBSP BLACK PEPPER.
  10. ADD 1 TSP VINEGAR & 1 TBSP BLACK SOY SAUCE. MIX WELL AND LET COOL.
  11. DOUGH: MIX 100 GMS ALL PURPOSE FLOUR, 1 TBSP OIL & 1 TSP SALT. KNEAD SOFT DOUGH WITH 20 GMS PUREED SPINACH.
  12. ROLL OUT THIN POORIS USING PREPARED DOUGH.
  13. SPOON PREPARED VEGGIE MIX ONTO THE CENTER OF EACH POORI.
  14. SEAL EDGES. FOLD INTO DESIRED MOMO SHAPE.
  15. STEAM MOMOS FOR ATLEAST 15 MINUTES. COVER & LET COOL FOR 5 MINUTES.
  16. SERVE SPINACH MOMOS WITH SPICY MOMO SAUCE. TOP OREO MOMOS WITH MELTED CHOCOLATE AND SERVE.
