ABOUT Winter Special... Besan ka Sheera RECIPE

You can offer it to the deities or make it for your family when you prepare besan sheera the house is full of nutty sweet aroma coming from gram flour. The aroma gives you hunger pangs, and you want to serve as soon as you can. Both ghee and dry fruits gives a rich flavour to this dessert. Besan sheera is a quick recipe but a lot of stirring is required, so too much of hand work but every bit of effort is worth to make this.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan 3/4 cup
  2. Jaggery 1/2 cup
  3. Milk 1 1/2 cups
  4. Water 1 cup
  5. Pepper power a pinch
  6. Cardamom powder 1/2 tsp
  7. Ghee 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. DRY ROAST 3/4 CUP BESAN IN A NON-STICK PAN
  2. ROAST UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN
  3. WHEN BESAN TURNS FRAGRANT, TAKE OFF HEAT, COOL
  4. BOIL THE 1/2 CUP JAGGERY WITH 1 CUP WATER
  5. BOIL TILL THE JAGGERY MELTS & DISSOLVES
  6. HEAT 1/4 CUP GHEE, ADD A PINCH OF PEPPER, IMMEDIATELY ADD THE ROASTED BESAN, STIR BRISKLY
  7. ADD THE JAGGERY WATER, 1.5 CUPS MILK, MIX ON LOW HEAT
  8. STIR CONTINUOUSLY ON LOW HEAT TO AVOID LUMPS
  9. WHEN IT COMES TO A BOIL, COVER & SIMMER TILL THICK
  10. THE CONSISTENCY SHOULD BE OF A LOOSE, FLOWY & SOFT HALWA
  11. MIX 1/2 TSP CARDAMOM POWDER
  12. TAKE OUT IN SERVING BOWLS
  13. GARNISH WITH SOME CASHEWS & RAISINS ( OPTIONAL )
