ABOUT Dal Dhokli RECIPE

Use the leftover dal and rotis to make this yummy dish which is a complete meal by itself.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Left over rotis.. 3
  2. Leftover dal ... 1 cup
  3. tamarind .. small piece soaked
  4. turmeric powder.. 1/4 tsp
  5. Red chilli powder.. 1/4 tsp
  6. Jaggery...,, 1 tsp
  7. salt ... to taste
  8. coriander leaves .. to garnish
  9. Mustard seeds ... 1 tsp
  10. cumin seeds ... 1 tsp
  11. asafoetida ... 1 pinch
  12. Curry leaves ... few
  13. oil .... 2 tbsps

Instructions

  1. Cut the rotis into pieces
  2. Set them aside
  3. Heat 2 tbsps oil and add asafoetida
  4. Now add 1 tsp each of cumin and mustard seeds
  5. When they crackle add the curry leaves
  6. Add the leftover dal
  7. Stir in the tamarind juice and little more water
  8. Add salt, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder & 1 tsp jaggery
  9. Stir to mix
  10. When dal starts to simmer add the roti pieces
  11. Cook on low flame for half a minute and garnish with coriander leaves
  12. Serve it immediately
  13. Dal Dhokli. (with leftover dal & rotis)
