ABOUT Malai matar pulao RECIPE

Malai matar pulao is a scrumptious dish cooked in few simpler steps . This mild version is loved by children . I always wanted to try malai matar pulao whenever I come across malai matar gravy . Tats how I tried this and voila ! It’s a success.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. basmati rice 3 cups
  2. Boiled peas 200 grams
  3. Onion big 2 +cashews 15 boiled in a cup of water . cooled and purées to a smooth paste
  4. ginger garlic paste 1 tablespoon
  5. salt 2 tablespoons
  6. ghee 3 tablespoons
  7. Bay leaves 3
  8. cinnamon stick long 2
  9. cardamom pods 4
  10. Dried hibiscus 2 crushed
  11. cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  12. cloves 4
  13. Star anise 3
  14. Green chillies slit 4
  15. water for cooking 2.5 cups ( adjust as per rice )
  16. Fresh cream 120 millilitre
  17. Fresh cilantros a bunch chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat 3 tbsps ghee in a cooking pot .
  2. Add the whole spices . Cinnamon , bay leaves 3, cardamom 4. Star anise 3, cloves 4, dried hibiscus 2 crushed.
  3. Add green chillies and fry for 3 seconds .
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 seconds .
  5. Pour the onion cashew paste , sauté and cook for 5 mins till the gravy thickens . Add salt .
  6. Add the boiled peas and mix .
  7. Add the drained rice and sauté for 2 minutes . Add water 2.5 cups . ( Rice : water 1:1) . Add cream
  8. Water is adjusted as we use cream and onion cashew purée . Use according to the basmati rice .
  9. Add the freshly chopped cilantros . Close the cover of the cooking pot .Set to cook.
  10. Malai matar pulao is ready . I used rice cooker . Adjust the water as per your cooker and rice .
  11. Fluffy malai matar pulao could be served with some spicy accompaniment . Enjoy !
