Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For the kofta :
  2. Shredded cabbage 1 large cup
  3. onion finely chopped 1/2 cup
  4. salt
  5. turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Black pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
  9. besan flour 5 tablespoons
  10. Ginger garlic paste 1/2 teaspoon
  11. White sesame seeds 2 tablespoons
  12. yogurt 3 tablespoons
  13. water 1/4 cup
  14. ghee for shallow frying
  15. For the gravy masala :
  16. garlic fat pods 5
  17. cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  18. Caraway seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  19. onions medium 4 chopped
  20. tomatoes ripe medium 3 chopped
  21. water to grind
  22. white sesame seeds 3 tablespoons
  23. Other Ingredients :
  24. ghee 3 tablespoons
  25. turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  26. coriander powder 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon
  27. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  28. salt
  29. cashews 12 chopped
  30. cilantros chopped

Instructions

  1. Add 1 large cup shredded cabbage .
  2. Add 1/2 cup finely chopped onions .
  3. Add 5 tablespoons Besan flour .
  4. Add salt and mix .
  5. Add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder , 1 teaspoon coriander powder , 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder.
  6. Add 1 .5 teaspoon red chilli powder .
  7. Add 2 tablespoons white sesame seeds , 1 /2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste.
  8. Add 3 tablespoons yogurt . Mix all together to a tight batter consistency .Refrigerate for 20 mins.
  9. In a blender , take 5 fat garlic pods , 1 teaspoon cumin seeds , 1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds .
  10. Add 4 medium onions roughly chopped .
  11. Add 3 ripe medium tomatoes chopped.
  12. Add 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds .
  13. Add 4 green cardamom. Add little water and grind to a smooth masala paste.
  14. Take the batter out . Heat ghee in appe pan . Pour 1 tablespoon batter in every pit .
  15. Fry both the sides in medium heat .
  16. Golden brown cabbage koftas are ready . Keep aside .
  17. Heat 3 tablespoons ghee in a wok .
  18. Pour the ground masala paste to the hot ghee and keep stirring till it’s cooked .
  19. Add salt for the curry .
  20. Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder .
  21. Add 1 teaspoon chilli powder .
  22. Add 1/4 coriander powder .
  23. Allow the gravy to boil , thicken .
  24. Then add the fried koftas to the gravy .
  25. Simmer and cook for 5 minutes in low heat . Add cashews . Garnish with cilantros .
  26. Cabbage sesame kofta gravy is ready to serve .
