ABOUT Ivy Gourd Buttermilk Curry RECIPE

Ivy gourd buttermilk curry is prepared using ivy gourd, coconut, buttermilk and green chilli. It is famous in Udupi -Mangalore region. It tastes good with rice and neeru dosa.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ivy gourd 1/2 kg
  2. Grated coconut 2 cup
  3. Sour buttermilk 2 cup
  4. Water
  5. Green chilli 1-2
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Cooking oil 2 tsp
  8. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  9. Red chilli 1
  10. Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  11. Methi seeds 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. WASH AND CUT IVY GOURD IN TO SMALL PIECES
  2. ADD SALT, SUFFICIENT WATER, COVER AND COOK TILL SOFT
  3. COMBINE GRATED COCONUT, GREEN CHILLI AND BUTTERMILK IN MIXIE JAR
  4. GRIND SMOOTHLY
  5. CHECK THE COOKNESS
  6. ADD GROUND PASTE, SUFFICIENT WATER
  7. STIR AND MIX
  8. BRING IT TO BOIL, WHEN IT STARTS BOILING TURN OFF THE FLAME, DO NOT OVER BOIL IT
  9. TEMPER IT WITH MUSTARD SEEDS, METHI SEEDS, URAD DAL AND RED CHILLI
