Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Green chillies-6
  2. Ground nuts 3 tbsp
  3. Sesame seeds 3 tbsp
  4. Dessicated coconut 2 tbsp
  5. Poppy seeds 1 tsp
  6. Garlic 4 cloves
  7. Ginger 1 inch
  8. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  9. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  10. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  11. Fenugreek seeds 10
  12. Tamarind water 1/4 cup
  13. Salt to taste
  14. Oil 2 tbsp
  15. Fresh coriander

Instructions

  1. INGREDIENTS FOR MASALA: 3 TBSP GROUNDNUTS,3 TBSP SESAME SEEDS,2 TBSP DRIED COCONUT,1 TSP POPPY SEEDS,1/2 TSP TURMERIC,1 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER,1/2 TSP GARAM MASALA,10 FENUGREEK SEEDS,4 GARLIC CLOVES,1 INCH GINGER.
  2. ROAST GROUNDNUTS .
  3. ROAST SESAME SEEDS.
  4. ROAST POPPY SEEDS AND DESSICATED COCONUT ON VERY SLOW FLAME.LET EVERYTHING COOL DOWN.
  5. CUT THE CHILLIES LONGITUDINALLY TO MAKE A SLIT.
  6. TAKE 2 TBSP OIL IN A PAN.
  7. PUT ALL CHILLIES IN HOT OIL.
  8. FRY ON SLOW GAS TILL THEY TURN GOLDEN FROM BOTH SIDES.
  9. REMOVE FROM PAN AND KEEP ASIDE.
  10. ADD 1 TSP CUMIN SEEDS,1/4 ASAFETIDA,1 SPRIG OF CURRY LEAVES.
  11. ADD 1 FINELY CHOPPED ONION AND SAUTE TILL IT TURNS LIGHT BROWN.
  12. GRIND ALL THE ROASTED AND COOLED INGREDIENTS FOR MASALA IN MIXER.
  13. ADD 1/2 CUP WATER AND GRIND TO A SMOOTH PASTE.
  14. ADD THIS PASTE TO THE PAN.
  15. MIX AND SAUTE FOR 2 MINUTES.
  16. ADD SALT AND 1/4 CUP TAMARIND WATER.
  17. ADD 2 CUPS WATER AND SIMMER ON LOW FLAME FOR 10 MINUTES.
  18. NOW ADD THE FRIED CHILLIES TO THE SALAN.SIMMER FOR 5 MINUTES.
  19. SPRINKLE FRESH CORIANDER.
