Kerala Parota

Ingredients to make Kerala Parota

  • 3 cups flour (Maida)
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp sugar
  • oil for cooking

How to make Kerala Parota

  1. Mix flour, salt, sugar and baking powder in a bowl
  2. Add 1 tbs of Oil into the mixture and blend well. Repeat again.
  3. Knead well with little water to make a dough. Coat with oil and cover with a damp cloth. Leave for 30 mins
  4. Knead again and divide the dough into 9-10 parts and make into smooth balls.
  5. Roll dough ball as thin as possible. Hold the rolled dough from the top on both sides and pleat them till the bottom.
  6. Now roll them like a spiral and press the last edge onto the center of the roll.
  7. Make all the balls this way, cover with wet cloth and keep aside for 15 minutes.
  8. Take each rolled ball and on a dusted working surface, roll each ball into a paratha.
  9. Heat tava and place the paratha ,fry on both sides.
  10. Drizzle oil on top and on the edges till the parathas are crisp and golden.
  11. Serve hot with any dal and meat.
