ABOUT PoriArisi Urundai –Roasted Rice sweet Balls RECIPE

This is an evening snack with rice and jaggery as the main ingredient, a guilt free snack for the kids.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. ½ Cup Parboiled Rice
  2. 2 cups water
  3. ¼ Cup jaggery
  4. ¼ tsp Dry ginger powder
  5. 4 Crushed Cardamoms
  6. ¼ cup grated coconut

Instructions

  1. 1. Dry roast the rice till it changes its colour to light brown. 2. Let it cool down to room temperature and grind in a mixie to a coarse mixture.. 3. Dissolve jaggery in 1 cup of hot water and strain for impurities
  2. 4. Heat a pan with the strained jaggery water and another cup of water . 5. When the water starts to boil, Now reduce the heat and add crushed cardamoms and dry ginger powder.
  3. 6. Then add the ground rice powder to it and mix thoroughly without lumps. 7. Now reduce the heat to low flame and allow it cook. It takes a couple of minutes to cook as the rice has already been roasted.
  4. 8. When it’s done, remove the pan from heat and let it cool down till you can tolerate its heat while rolling. 9. Take small portion and roll into balls, then roll over the coconut grating so that the balls gets a generous share.
