Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 6 slices of bread
  2. 2 tbsp spicy green chutney
  3. 2 tbsp spicy tomato sauce
  4. 1 cup besan
  5. 1 tsp ajwain
  6. 1/4 tsp heeng
  7. 1 tbsp oil
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Water as required to make the batter
  10. Oil for deep frying


  1. In a mixing bowl combine together besan , ajwain , heeng and salt , mix well
  2. Now by adding water little by little make a smooth batter
  3. Mix the batter with your hands for at least 5 minutes
  4. Mix , until the batter becomes light in weight and colour
  5. Add 1 tbsp oil to the batter and mix well
  6. Now prepare the sandwiches
  7. Place one slice in a plate and apply 1 tbsp green chutney
  8. Then place the second slice on top of the chutney one
  9. Now apply tomato sauce
  10. Place the third slice on the second one
  11. In the meantime heat oil for deep frying , first on high flame then make it medium
  12. Now coat the sandwiches with the besan batter by dipping it in the batter
  13. When the batter coats properly then slowly slide it in the hot oil
  14. Fry it , by turning at regular intervals , until become light brown and crispy
  15. When done take out in a plate and cut into four parts
  16. In this way make the other pakoda also
  17. No need to serve any chutney or sauce with this as both are already there
  18. Serve hot with tea or coffee
