The time taken while preparing Haleem is 180 minute. This recipe of Haleem is perfect to serve 8. Haleem is just the appropriate option to prepare when you have a get together or night party at home. Ingredients to make Haleem

  • 250 grams boneless mutton
  • 300 grams wheat soaked overnight and husked
  • 1 cup mixed daal - channa moong and masoor (split gram yellow lentil and red lentil)
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 4 green chillies chopped and then pound
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 4 tblsp ghee
  • 2 onion sliced
  • 2 tblsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • salt to taste
  • For the toppings:
  • 1 cup fried onions
  • 4 lemon wedges
  • sliced ginger
  • chopped coriander
  • chopped green chilli

How to make Haleem

  1. 1. Marinate the mutton with the ginger garlic paste as well as the green chillies and a bit of salt. Keep aside for 1 hour
  2. 2. Meanwhile soak the daals as well.
  3. 3. Coarsely grind the meat that has been soaked
  4. 4. Now, add the mutton, daal and its water as well as the wheat and the water it was soaked in along with the turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Cook on low heat for 1 hour.
  5. 5. Pressure cook the meat for 5 whistles. And then cool and grind the mixture.
  6. 6. Heat ghee in a large pan, fry the chopped onions and add the ground mutton mix to it.
  7. 7. Add the garam masala in it and cook for an additional 45 minutes or until the haleem is fragrant.
  8. 8. Serve hot with sliced ginger, lemon wedges, chopped coriander and chopped green chilli and fried onions

My Tip:

Top with additional ghee
