A sweet popular snack of South India.This flaky bun is filled with sweetened ,buttery mixture of coconut and nuts.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For bun:
  2. Maida 2cups.
  3. Salt 1/4tea spoon.
  4. Butter 1table spoon.
  5. Yeast 1/2table spoon.
  6. Sugar powder 2table spoon ..
  7. Lukewarm milk 1/2cup.
  8. Vanilla essence 1tea spoon.
  9. For Filling:
  10. Coconut powder 1cup.
  11. Chopped cashewnut 1table spoon.
  12. Chopped almond 1table spoon.
  13. Chopped walnut 1table spoon.
  14. Sugar powder 2table spoon.
  15. Melted butter 3/4 cup.
  16. Tutty fruity2table spoon.
  17. Milk 1/2cup for top brushing of bun.
  18. Solid butter 25grams (for applying on top of bun after baking).
  19. For carmalised apple:
  20. Sugar 1/2cup.
  21. Water 2table spoon.
  22. Apple pieces few.

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan and add 1table spoon butter ,roast dry fruits for 2minutes.take out in a bowl.
  2. In the same pan roast coconut powder and add sugar,stir well,add to the dry fruits.
  3. Add tutty fruity,mix.
  4. Add melted butter and mix well .keep aside .
  5. Now in another bowl take lukewarm milk,add sugar and instant yeast.mix well and leave for 4_5 minutes to activate yeast.
  6. After 5 minutes add maida to yeast mixture.also add salt and butter.
  7. Knead for 5minutes to make a soft dough.if required add more milk.apply 1table spoon oil over the dough .cover the dough and leave for 2hours.
  8. While resting the dough ,heat afry pan add sugar and water .make a syrup.heat more to carmalise the sugar.
  9. Add apple pieces and coat well with carmalised sugar.keep aside.
  10. After 2hours dough is double to its size.punch it for 2_3minutes.
  11. Divide the dough into 2 equall parts.
  12. Roll each part into a round sheet of about 1/2cm thick(slightly thicker than regular chapatis)
  13. Put one sheet on baking tray.spread the coconut tutty_fruity mixture over it
  14. Cover with another sheet ,seal the edges with fingers.
  15. Apply milk wash on the bun/sheet.
  16. Make a slight cross over the top of bun to release exess heat.pre heat the oven for 10 minutes ,on 180°c.bake the bun for 30_35 minutes to get a lovely golden colour.
  17. Take out the bun from oven ,apply a liberal amount of butter over the bun.cool for 5 minutes.
  18. Serve with carmalised apple pieces.
