ABOUT Crunchy All Purpose Flour Murukku RECIPE

Murukku is a savoury, crunchy snack originating from the Indian subcontinent, notably popular in the Southern States of our country and Sri Lanka. It is typically made from rice flour and urad dal flour. But in Jai Ki Rasoi Se made it using steamed "All Purpose Flour"and called it as "Crunchy All Purpose Flour Murukku". It goes well when served with hot cup of tea.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. All Purpose Flour (Maida) - 250 Grams
  2. Rice Flour (Chawal Ka Atta) - 50 Grams (Optional)
  3. Cumin Seeds (Sabit Jeera) - 1 Tea Spoon
  4. Oil - 2 Table Spoon to add in the dough
  5. Oil (Tel) - For Frying as per your requirement
  6. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Add all-purpose flour in desirable vessel
  2. Take a pressure cooker add little water. Keep a ring in the cooker and top of it place the vessel which contains the all-purpose flour. Cover the vessel to avoid any water entering the flour. Steam it till you get 2 whistles. Keep the pressure cooker aside allow it to get cool
  3. Take out the steamed flour from the pressure cooker and remove the wet part of the flour
  4. Transfer the dry steamed flour in a vessel. Add rice flour, cumin seeds, oil and salt according to taste. Mix all ingredients and ensure there are lumps. Knead a soft down by adding sufficient water
  5. Take the murukku maker along with disc which has three holes. You can use any other the disc as per your choice. Grease murukku maker and place the dough inside it
  6. Take a plastic sheet and grease it. Press the dough through the 3 disc hole on the plastic sheet and make small murukku by moving in circular motion
  7. Heat oil in a non-stick pan or kadai. Once the oil is hot, add murukku and switch of the gas, Allow it get to get fried. Once the temperature of oil comes to normal. Switch on the gas on low flame and fried them till they light golden brown
  8. The dish is ready to be served hot with Adrakwali Chai
