ABOUT DAL DHOKRIE RECIPE

The traditional dal dhokrie from gujarat tastes even better when served really hot and we have made a little variation by adding a bit of colour to the recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup flour — atta
  2. 2 pinches of salt
  3. 1cup tuvar dal
  4. 1tsp of sugar
  5. 1/2 tsp of haldi powder
  6. 2 green chillies chopped
  7. 50gm peanuts
  8. 3 pinches of hing
  9. 8-10 curry leaves
  10. 1 cup shelled peas
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak the tuvar dal in water for an hour. Cook with three cups of water, salt to taste and the haldi powder till the dal is tender . Pass through a sieve.
  2. Place this mixture in a kadhai . Add another cup of water. Mix in the salt , peas and the peanuts and the green chillies .
  3. Add the hing and the curry leaves.
  4. Shift the atta with the salt and add enough water to knead into a dough .
  5. Divide the dough into 3-4 portions. Roll each portion into a chapatti.
  6. With a sharp knife make star-shaped insertions on the chapatti to get star - shaped pieces.
  7. Drop these pieces into the boiling dal mixture and lower the heat.
  8. Cook over low flame till the chapatti pieces are cooked and the preparation is thick .
  9. Serve on a hot sizzler tray.
