Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Wheat flour-1.5 cup
  2. Rawa/Suji-3tbsp
  3. Salt-1/4tsp
  4. Fresh greated coconut-2cup
  5. Jaggery-1 cup chopped
  6. Cardamom powder-1 tbsp
  7. Khoya/Mawa-approx 50 gms
  8. Roasted Poppy seeds-1 tbsp
  9. Ghee- for deep frying
  10. Water- for kneading the dough
  11. Dry fruits optional


  1. Take a bowl & add wheat flour,salt,1 tbsp ghee( for moyan),rawa & knead a semi soft dough with the help of water.
  2. Cover the dough & let it rest for 30 min's.
  3. Now take a heavy bottom pan,add 1/2 tsp ghee & add coconut, roast it for 1 or 2 min,s on slow flame.
  4. Now add jagerry & cover it, untill jagerry melts completely.
  5. Add Khoya now, mix well
  6. Cook it untill sapreted from kadhai.
  7. Add poppy seed, cardamom powder,
  8. Let it spread in a plate & let it cool completely.
  9. Heat sufficient ghee in frying pan.
  10. Take dough & make small balls , flatten it like small chapatti , keep 2 tsp stuffing & start to give modak shape.
  11. Made all the Modaks like this & fry them on a medium/ slow flame until golden brown.
  12. Garnish with silver varak & offer to Lord Ganesha for naivedyam & then yourself.
