Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ripe bananas 5 to 6 nos
  2. Semolina or sooji rava one cup
  3. Jaggery powder 7 to 8 tablespoons
  4. Elaichi powder 1 tsp
  5. Raisins and cashewnuts 3 tablespoons
  6. Milk 200 ml
  7. Ghee 4 to 5 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the rava in a thick bottomed Kadai until lightly aromatic. Take care to see that it doesn't get browned.
  2. Transfer the roasted rava onto a plate and let it cool
  3. Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee in the same kadai and toast the raisins and broken cashewnut pieces until raisins are plumped up.
  4. Blend together the bananas, milk and jaggery powder in a blender.
  5. Heat the ghee reserved after toasting the dry fruits and add the blended banana jaggery and milk puree. Stir until light bubbles form on its surface.
  6. Start adding the rava slowly while the other hand continuously stirs the mixture. Blend in well until rava is fully absorbed
  7. Add the elaichi powder and dry fruits and the remaining ghee. Continue stirring until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan. You can also add saffron mixed with milk or saffron essence. Take care to keep stirring. Switch off the gas before the mixture becomes hard. Serve warm after adding a bit of ghee for the glistening effect.
