About Sabudana Chivda Recipe

Sweet and Spicy deep fried Sago/sabudana chivda was always something I craved to eat during school years. This is a quick-to-make snack which kids and adults both enjoy.

Sabudana Chivda

Ingredients to make Sabudana Chivda

  • 1 cup Nylon Tapioca Pearls/Sago/sabudana
  • 1/2 cup raw peanuts
  • 1 cup dried shredded potato
  • 4-5 green chilies sliced finely
  • 2-3 branches curry leaves
  • 1 tsp red chili powder (optional)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • oil for Deep frying

How to make Sabudana Chivda

  1. Heat a deep thick bottomed pot/kadhai. Fry the Sabudana in batches till the swell up. Keep moving spatula to prevent over browning.
  2. Similarly, fry peanuts and potato strips.
  3. Apply sugar and salt to Sabudana. Apply red chilli powder and salt to potatoes strips.
  4. Combine the two as well as the peanuts and toss well to mix well.
  5. Prepare tempering. Heat oil in small saucepan. Add green chilies and curry leaves. Pour tempering over the mixture and toss well to mix all.

My Tip:

Drain excess oil on paper napkins after frying the Sabudana, peanuts, and potato strips.
