ABOUT Kapuriya RECIPE

This recipe a very healthy recipe from South Gujarat. It is made from rice flour, besan and little tur dal flour. Have tried to make it healthy by adding vegetables to it.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 3/4 cup rice flour
  2. 1/4 cup besan
  3. 2 tbsp tur dal flour
  4. 2 cups water
  5. 1/4 tsp carom seeds
  6. 1 tsp ginger paste
  7. 1 & 1/2 tsp green chilli paste
  8. 2 tbsp crushed raw peanuts
  9. 1 tsp roasted cumin seeds powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  12. 2 tbsp fresh curd
  13. 2 tbsp oil
  14. 1 cup finely chopped cabbage, carrot and capsicum
  15. 1 tbsp chilli flakes
  16. Purple yam's creepers leaves as needed
  17. For serving:
  18. Oil
  19. Green chutney

Instructions

  1. In a non-stick pan keep water for boiling.
  2. After the water starts boiling add carom seeds, ginger paste, green chilli paste, crushed peanuts, salt, turmeric powder, cumin seeds powder and oil.
  3. Mix everything properly and let this mixture get boiled for about 2 minutes.
  4. Add all the three flours to the above mixture and take care that no lumps are formed.
  5. Use a bubble whisker to mix everything well.
  6. Now add vegetables to the mixture and cook the mixture by occasionally stirring.
  7. Switch off the gas when the mixture starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  8. Let the mixture become cool.
  9. After the mixture cools down make small flat balls.
  10. Place them on a plate having holes and covered with leaves of purple yam creeper.
  11. Keep this dish in a steamer.
  12. Steam the Kapuriya for 10-12 minutes.
  13. Serve the cooked kapuriya with oil and green chutney
