ABOUT Baby Chicks in Nest RECIPE

This could be a great attractive and jaw dropping party food.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. **for making the nest**
  2. Dry shredded coconut - 1 Cup
  3. Caster sugar - 1/4 cup
  4. Egg - 1
  5. **for filling**
  6. Thickened Cream - 1/4 or 1/6 cup
  7. Lemon rind - 1 strip
  8. White Chocolate - 150 gm
  9. Yellow food colour - few drops
  10. Orange M & M's - 8
  11. Mini chocolate buttons - 16

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degree celsius.
  2. Separate the egg and lightly whisk the egg white.
  3. In a bowl combine coconut, sugar and egg white.
  4. Place a spoonfull of mixture in the patty pan case and press them lightly with wet fingers.
  5. Try to give a nest shape and put those cases in a small muffin or cake tin.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown on top.
  7. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Mean while for filling, over medium-high heat place the cream and lemon rind in a small saucepan.
  9. Bring to boil, then remove from heat and set aside for 5 minutes.
  10. Chopped the chocolate and put in a heatproof bowl.
  11. The cream mixture return to boil and then pour over the chopped chocolate.
  12. Discurd the lemon rind and stir until melted and smooth.
  13. Use few drops of food colour to tint.
  14. Set aside to cool and thicken slightly.
  15. Gently take out the coconut tarts from patty pan cases.
  16. Fill in the tarts with melted chocolate.
  17. To make eyes use chocolate buttons and place a M & M's horizontally to make a beak of baby chicks.
  18. If you wish to make a baby face then place the M & M's vertically.
  19. Place them in the fridge to set properly.
  20. Enjoy the party, kids will love that.
