Bhatt is a type of black color dry bean. it is very popular recipe in Uttrakhand state. This is a Kumaoni recipe. Tasty ,easy to cook and eaten with boiled rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bhatt Ki dal – 1 cup
  2. Ginger- garlic paste- 1 tbs
  3. Chopped green chilli-1 tbs
  4. Chopped onion- 1
  5. Chopped tomato – 2
  6. Wheat flour-2 tbs
  7. Cumin-1 tbs
  8. Red chilli powder-1 tbs
  9. One pinch hing
  10. Desi ghee- 3 tbs
  11. Salt – as to taste
  12. Chopped green coriander- 2 tbs

Instructions

  1. Take desi ghee in a cooker and heat it, roast bhatt dal in ghee in cooker, up to crackle condition.
  2. Remove bhatt dal from cooker than add cumin, heeng,chopped onion , add wheat flour, than Turmeric power in cooker ,cook till soft.
  3. Add red chilli powder, garam masala ,chopped green chilli, crackle bhatt, salt , mix all ingredients.
  4. Add 4 cup water. cook up to 4 whistles then switch off the flame .
  5. Garnish with coriander and serve with steamed rice.
