Idli - peanut chutney

Ingredients to make Idli - peanut chutney

  • 1 cup. Idli rice. Washed and soaked over night.
  • 1pinch soda
  • salt to taste.
  • For Chutney
  • 4-5 coconut pieces.
  • 2tbsp roasted peanuts
  • 2 green chillies
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • salt
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 2 Dried red chillies
  • A pinch asafoetida
  • 1 spring curry leaves

How to make Idli - peanut chutney

  1. Drain water from the rice . Grind it into smooth batter. Add a pinch soda and salt. Keep aside for 15 min
  2. Mean while. Prepare chutney.
  3. In a grinder add coconut pieces, peanuts, salt, garlic, green chillies and grind together.
  4. In a pan heat oil add mustard seed , dried red chillies, hing and curry leaves. As they splutter add this to chutney.
  5. Now grease the idli patra. Pour the moulds with batter cover and steam cook for 15 min. Serve hot
