About Til Chikki Recipe

This recipe is typically prepared during the celebration of nakara sankranti festival. It is also known as tilgul, gajal and til gur patti. Combo of til and jaggery vivek a good boost of iron.

Til Chikki

Ingredients to make Til Chikki

  • 1 cup sesame/til white
  • 11/2 tsp ghee
  • 1 cup jaggery/gud grated

How to make Til Chikki

  1. Heat a deep non stick pan add the sesame seeds and dry roast on a medium flame for 5 minutes.
  2. Heatt the ghee in the same pan add the jaggery mix well and cook on a medium flame for 3 minutes.
  3. While stirring continuously switch off the flame add the roasted sesame seeds and mix very well.
  4. When the mixture is ready put the entire mixture over butter paper or onto greased steel plate.
  5. Roll out thinly into the slightly thick block.
  6. Cut them into square pieces using a sharp knife when it's still warm.
  7. Allow it to cool completely once cooled store in an airtight container and serve for a month.
