Delish Orange Cookies

Ingredients to make Delish Orange Cookies

  • 200 g all purpose flour
  • 85 g caster sugar
  • Zest of 2 big oranges
  • 125g soft unsalted butter
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 drop orange food colour optional
  • 1 tbsp blanched almonds chopped optional

How to make Delish Orange Cookies

  1. Sieve flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Keep it aside
  2. Blend butter in a bowl for 1 min
  3. Add sugar and blend for 4-5 minutes on moderate speed
  4. Add egg yolks and blend for 2 minutes
  5. Add orange zest and mix well
  6. Add food colouring, this is optional. I added it to give beautiful orange colour to cookies. Mix well
  7. Add dry ingredients. Using spatula, mix well
  8. Dust surface with flour. Transfer contents on surface
  9. Knead into soft dough. Cover dough with cling wrap. Refrigerate for 20 minutes
  10. Divide dough into small portions. Shape into balls and slightly flatten it. Place them on prepared baking tray leaving gap between the cookies
  11. Add chopped almonds on top for additional taste. This is optional
  12. Bake for 11-14 minutes in preheated oven at 170 until edges are light brown. Do not over bake
  13. Cool on tray for 15 minutes. Cool on wire rack completely
  14. Store in airtight container and serve as required. These are melt in mouth soft delicious tangy cookies

Thanks dear, these are flaky , melt in mouth cookies with tangy orange flavour. This is due to absence of any liquid content. incase you wish to add orange juice, you wull need to increase the amount of flour to form a dough. You can still bake cookies but the texture of the cookies would be different than the original
