A lovely, colourful and the simplest of Hyderabadi desserts, this one really calls for a celebration. It is made on all important days and on weekends for the whole family to enjoy. Kids will love this sweet rice and is a healthy one too that can be whipped up easily anytime. This aromatic and flavourful rice is definitely a treat to our tastebuds. Many people also use jaggery in order to make it more healthy. Either ways it tastes great. A splendid idea to relish simple homemade dessert that is traditional as well as easy too. Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Basmati Rice 150 gm
  2. Cloves 4
  3. Cinnamon sticks 2
  4. Cardamom pods crushed 3
  5. Almonds slivered 12
  6. Cashews chopped 12
  7. Raisins 12
  8. Sugar 120 gm
  9. Milk 150 ml
  10. Ghee 3 tbsp
  11. Dry coconut or kopra sliced thinly 1/4 cup
  12. Khoya or mawa 50 gm
  13. Edible food colour 1/8 tsp

Instructions

  1. Cook rice Al dente and set aside.
  2. In a kadhai, add ghee and the cloves, cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks.
  3. Next add dry sliced coconut.
  4. Fry them for a minute until a bit browned.
  5. Now add slivered dry fruits and raisins.
  6. Fry them all for a minute.
  7. Now add milk and allow it to boil.
  8. Next, add khoya and sugar along with the food colour.
  9. Allow it to cook until a bit thickened.
  10. Finally add cooked rice to it.
  11. Mix well and serve hot as an excellent aftermeal dessert to your loved ones and friends.
