Khandeshi Masala khichadi is very popular in khandesh region of Maharashtra ( North-Western part ).This khichadi is blended with a special type of garam Masala called khandeshi garam Masala which is really spicy and authentic. People from khandesh usually enjoy this recipe in dinner. This khichadi along with kaddi makes a complete meal and they go really well with each other. because it is so quick and easy to make without compromising on the taste it is women's all time favorite recipe!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice 2 cup
  2. Arhar (Toor) dal 1/2 cup
  3. 1/8 cup Moong dal
  4. 2 Chopped Onion,
  5. 2 chopped green chilli
  6. 1" ginger
  7. 8 - 10 Garlic Cloves
  8. 1/4 cup peanuts
  9. 1/4 Cup Dried and sliced Coconut
  10. 7 - 8 Curry Leaves
  11. 1 - 2 Bay Leaf
  12. 2 star anise
  13. 1 dalchini stick
  14. 8 - 10 Black pepper
  15. 3 - 4 Clove
  16. 1/4 tsp Fennal seed
  17. Pinch of hing
  18. 2-3 dry red chilli
  19. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  20. 1/2 tsp turmuric powder
  21. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  22. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  23. 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  24. 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  25. 2 tbsp Oil
  26. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Firstly wash and soak rice and dal for 30 mins
  2. Now heat cooker and put oil and add jeera, rai, fennal seed and let them crackle now add dry red chilli, hing, curry leaves, bay Leaf, clove, star Anise, dalchini stick and stir it
  3. Now add ginger ,garlic ,onion and green chilli and saute for a minute
  4. add peanut and coconut and stir well Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder, Coriander powder and stir it
  5. now add rice and dal and saute for a minute Now add garam masala, salt and then add 2 and half cup of water and close the lid and take 2 whistle on medium flame
  6. Turn off flame and let it cool down naturally
  7. Now open the cooker lid and add chopped coriander and sprinkle pepper powder and stir well
  8. Now Masala Khichdi is ready
  9. Transfer masala khichdi to a serving bowl and serve it with curd or kadi
