Masoor Bharta

Ingredients to make Masoor Bharta

  • Whole masoor dal 1 cup, soaked for 2-4 hours
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • garlic cloves- 5
  • bay leaf 1
  • water 2 cups
  • Green chilli 1
  • mustard oil 1 teaspoon

How to make Masoor Bharta

  1. Put in all the ingredients except the mustard oil into the pressure cooker and let it cook till 4-5 whistles blow.
  2. Let the steam escape on its own. Then open the pressure cooker and add in the mustard oil. Mix it well.
  3. Serve it hot with plain rice.

My Tip:

You can add wasabi paste to get that extra zing. Garnish it with chopped coriander leaves.
