Ukadiche Modak

Ingredients to make Ukadiche Modak

  • 1 cup basmati rice flour
  • 1/2 coconut, freshly grated
  • 1/2 cup grated jaggery
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 2 tsp desi ghee
  • salt as per taste.

How to make Ukadiche Modak

  1. Boil 1 cup of water. Add a pinch of salt and 1 tsp of ghee to it.
  2. Next, add 1 cup of rice flour to the boiling water. Stir it well, then turn off the flame and keep it covered.
  3. In a pan, heat the ghee, coconut, jaggery and the rest of the ingredients. Keep stirring till the jaggery melts.
  4. Make a soft dough of the steamed rice flour using little water and oil.
  5. Take a small ball of dough and make a hollow bowl shape. Put the coconut mixture in it. Make petal shapes of the modak and close the top.
  6. Steam these modaks for 10 mins.
  7. Serve them warm.

My Tip:

Different stuffings can be made, Veg or Non-veg as per choice for parties.
