This classic Hyderabadi dish is very popular among Hyderabadi cuisine and delicious as well.

Nargisi Kofta

Ingredients to make Nargisi Kofta

  • 500 grams minced mutton
  • 4 medium sized tomatoes grated/puree
  • 2 medium sized onions finely chopped
  • 2 onions chopped in four parts each
  • 5-6 garlic cloves smashed
  • 4-5 green chillies
  • 1/2 inch piece of ginger smashed
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 2 tablespoons whipped fresh yoghurt
  • 4 eggs hard boiled
  • oil as required to fry
  • salt to taste

How to make Nargisi Kofta

  1. Take a pan, heat some oil in it and fry the quartered onions for 2 minutes.
  2. Then put in the minced meat along with green chillies, ginger and garlic . Cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Once this meat mixture is cooked, pour in the beaten egg and combine well together.
  4. Take the hard boiled eggs(should be freshly boiled) and coat properly with this meat mixture.
  5. Heat oil in a pan and fry these coated eggs. Keep aside once cooked and brown.
  6. Add more oil if required into the pan, put in the finely chopped onions along with a little ginger. Fry and cook till the onions turn golden brown in colour.
  7. Then put in the coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, tomatoes, yogurt, salt according to taste. Give a good stir so that the flavours combine well together.
  8. Let this simmer and cook until the gravy thickens.
  9. Before serving, slice the nargisi kofta in halves.
  10. Serve the kofta hot along with the gravy and rice.
