Ingredients to make Churros

  • (my cup measures 250 ml)
  • all purpose flour/Maida - 1/2 cup
  • Unsalted butter - 3 tbsp
  • water - 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 1 tbsp
  • egg(lightly beaten) - 1
  • salt - a Pinch
  • vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
  • sugar(for coating) - 2 tbsp
  • oil for frying
  • chocolate sauce -
  • Milk or cream - 1/2 cup
  • Chocolate chunks- 1/2 cup
  • butter - 2 tsp
  • corn flour - 1/2 tsp
  • water - 2 tbsp

How to make Churros

  1. Churros -
  2. In a pan, add water, butter, sugar and salt.Bring it to boil and turn off heat.
  3. Add in flour and mix well with a spatula until it forms into a non-smooth and silky ball.
  4. Lightly beat egg and add in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add half of the beaten egg to the flour and mix it well with a spatula.It may be messy,but comes together soon.
  6. Add the remaining egg and mix into the dough until it is completely incorporated.
  7. It may look sticky,but gets well as it dries.
  8. Meanwhile heat a pan and add oil for deep frying.
  9. Transfer the dough into a piping bag and with a wider nozzle pipe it into long strips or bite sized.
  10. Deep fry until golden and drain it.
  11. Roll it into sugar and serve with hot chocolate dip.
  12. Chocolate Dip -
  13. Boil milk in a pan.
  14. Take it off the heat and add in the chocolate.
  15. Stir it well until the chocolate gets melted.
  16. Add in butter and bring it back to heat in very low flame.
  17. Prepare corn flour slurry by mixing water and corn flour.
  18. Pour the slurry into the chocolate mixture and stir continuously until it thickens and coats the spoon.
  19. Serve along with the churros.

My Tip:

Notes: 1.The churros can be rolled in cinnamon sugar. 2.It can be piped in long strips or bite sized. 3.To achieve the soft centre, the doughnut should be of half inch thickness. 4.The chocolate need not be thickened too much as it thickens on cooling.
