Bedmi Poori

Ingredients to make Bedmi Poori

  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 3 cups wheat flour
  • 1 tblspn Rava / sooji fine
  • 2-3 tblspn oil
  • 1 tspn red chilli kooti or Kashmiri as per taste (If you dont want spicy use Kashmiri or medium hot chilli powder )
  • 1/2 tspn Asofetida powder
  • 1 tspn bhuna jeera powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil to fry

How to make Bedmi Poori

  1. Soak the dal for at least half hour. See if it is tender enough to grind. Then remove all water fully.
  2. Grind daal coarsely leaving some dal whole or not ground.
  3. Make the dough with wheat flour adding salt ,red chilli, zeera powder and asofetida / hing powder.
  4. Add the rava to the above mix. Rub in oil and mix well into a dry mixture.
  5. Now add little water at a time to gather flour into a firm dough.
  6. Heat oil for frying now .
  7. Make small balls of dough . Flatten and start rolling into pooris.
  8. Roll into thin roundels.
  9. These are ready to fry now.
  10. Here we drop each rolled poori into hot oil and fry into golden pooris.
  11. Ready to enjoy with mango choonda .
